The Best Day of the Year!

School has started! Yesterday was the first day of school here in Michigan and the Wright girls made their way to their respective buildings with great anticipation. Jessica had to be at school and in her seat at 7:00 am. She is taking a zero hour because she has two music classes, (can you say "over-achiever?") She was up at six and was ready to go by 6:30 am. We will see how long that lasts! She was absolutely mortified when I suggested Sean go in and snap a picture next to her locker. We joked that Sean would follow her to her first class and get a picture with her teacher and that I would come up at lunch for another picture. I thought she would die! She jumped out of the car and wouldn't even let Sean go in with her! I did catch her off guard getting off the bus and succeeded in getting my "first day of school picture" that I always get! Mom wins-again!

Katie was very excited to start fourth grade. Fourth grade at Bauerwood means you get dropped off at the "upper el playground"! This is a big deal. She was out of bed in a flash and ready to go right away. She keeps a planner this year and switches classes with the other fourth grades for some of her classes. She likes her teacher and is thrilled that so many of her friends are in her class. She also started soccer last night. This is her first year in u12. She has a great coach. When Sean decided not to coach this year we kind of joked that it would be cool if she got Carrie for a coach. Carrie is the AYSO girls director and a very good coach. She is very competitive and she and Sean have gone up against each other for years. About two weeks ago we thought it would be good if she did get her and actually thought about calling to suggest it but didn't do it. When Carrie called to say Katie was on her team we were pretty excited. She likes to keep her girls playing together all winter in indoor leagues and we had talked about that for Katie this winter. She should have a good soccer season. She is excited to be going again. Soccer season should not be as crazy this year as it has been in the past because Jessica is not playing. We will only have one game to get to on Saturdays and one practice during the week.

The babies are doing well. Carson was at the doctor yesterday because we were concerned about all of the throwing up. The doctor put him on baby zantac, hopefully that will clam things down. He is still eating every two hours and getting up in the night. Hopefully this will help spread out his feedings and get through longer into the night. He just seems to be throwing up so much of what he eats, and then he is hungry again right away.

Allison is busy, busy, busy. She was out of sorts for a while yesterday when the girls were gone. She is going to have to get used to them being gone all day. She was quite entertaining though. I realized that the scream had to do with being heard and noticed over the big girls. No screaming yesterday while they were gone. She doesn't feel like she needs to compete for attention...so no screaming! Yeah!

On Labor Day we headed to the zoo in Battle Creek. We had intended to go to John Ball, but when we got there they were closed because of a watermain break. We were all disappointed because we were looking forward to Allison and Carson's first zoo trip. So, we just kept driving and went to Binder Park. The older girls really enjoy Binder, especially Katie. She is quite the zoo girl and wants to experience it all. The weather was nice and we had a good time. Allison loved it like we thought she would, and we all had fun showing her the zoo. A great day to end the summer on!

Here's a few pictures from a day at the zoo:

Your kids are growing up too fast! Good thing we "White Girls" stop aging at twenty-five, huh?
