WOW, the rain that we have been getting is crazy!!!! I love a good thunderstorm, Sean and I will actually sit on the porch and watch them roll in for fun. But the last week has been pretty wild. We usually get pretty excited over a good storm because for some reason in years past they just seem to go over us and hit north or south. We have been hit pretty hard the last few days and the areas around us even harder. Fortunately we have our electricity and we haven't had to sleep in the basement yet. I just feel like every thing is so wet. I haven't been able to get outside with Allison as much as I have wanted to and I just feel like even inside everything is damp. The older girls have been dealing just fine. They have plenty to do inside and when it is not thundering and lightening they will hang out in the neighbors garage to play with their friends. One downside is the rain-outs we have had for softball. Trying to make them up before tournaments start is proving to be pretty tricky. We even had one game cancelled not because it was raining, but because the infield was still underwater from a storm two nights before. I have updated Jessica's game schedule the best I can, but double check with us if you are going to make the trip out. Things always change!!!
We were able to get down to festival this week-end in between rain storms. They ended up suspending activities a couple times, but not while we were there. On Friday, Katie, Allison and I went down and walked around with Sean for lunch. That was fun. I don't think an elephant ear really counts as Katie's lunch, but it is what she had been looking forward to. On Saturday we were all able to get down to see Hailie dance on the Calder stage. The girls enjoy seeing her do her thing, and also usually run into a friend from school because they are in Hailie's dance company. The thing about festival though was when it wasn't raining it was HOT! Wow, being pregnant in the summer is a different concept for me. I'm glad I'm not due in August...it would be a long summer!
A quick update on Katie. I know I have talked to a few of you, but didn't touch base with everybody yesterday. She had a high fever yesterday and was crying because of a pain in her "hip". We tried to back track and figure out when she had fallen off her bike, scooter, whatever and just couldn't figure out why her hip would be hurting. Katie has a VERY high pain tolerance so when she is crying or complaining about pain I know it is for real. I mean this is the child who broke her thumb by slamming it in a car door and we didn't know for a month until she couldn't get her thumb into a bowling ball. She never complains and deals with pain on a different level. When I asked her to show me what she meant by her "hip" she showed me her lower back, right about where her kidney would be. Well, I knew right away we were dealing with something else. She had a high fever, pain in her back, was nauseous and earlier in the morning we had a wetting incident that was out of character for her. I called the doctor and they wanted to see her. Sure enough she has a UTI and they put her on an antibiotic right away. The thing that always scares me is the history of kidney issues in my family. The doctor sent her specimen out for a culture because she is concerned that is could be more than a UTI, possible a kidney infection and they will know that from some lab work. I just feel bad, because she has told me numerous times over the last year that her "hip" hurts and we just chalked it up to her rough play. It was usually gone in a day or two and she never complained about anything else. Hopefully they won't find anything else, but they have her on antibiotic that they usually use for kidney infections just to be safe and to get a jump start if that is the actual problem. I'll keep everybody posted.
Other than that our summer is off and running and will fly by I am sure. This week we are dealing with softball and with seeing Laura off to Virgina. She leaves this week-end and the girls are in a bit of denial. They are already bugging me about when we are going to go visit her.
