Spring Update

Soccer season is winding down, the girls each have one more game next Saturday. We have this week off for the Memorial Day week-end. Katie has had a great season. She has scored quite a few goals and her team is undefeated. They were undefeated in the fall with 5 wins and a tie, and this spring they have won their first 3 games and they tied this past Saturday. They tied the team they tied with in the fall. Hopefully they will win again next week to finish off a great season. She is quite aggressive and has improved again this year. She has such a strong kick and has gotten better at her ball control. After soccer is over she will go to a couple of sports camps this summer to keep her active and busy. She will go to Jenison's soccer camp again. She is a vetern of this camp, she has been going since she was 4. She is also going to take swimming lessons and go to basketball camp in Hudsonville. She loves basketball and spends alot of time in the driveway shooting hoops. We'll see how she does.

We have ourselves a catcher! Jess is doing great behind the plate. She has really caught on to the skills and strategies of the position. Her team is doing quite well. They are 4-3. Two of their three losses were very close games. Her hitting is really coming on too. She and Sean made some adjustments to her swing and now she is nailing the ball out of the infield. So far the season is going great and she is having so much fun.

Jess is also playing soccer. This is her last year of playing AYSO. She wants to play for the Jenison Junior High team next year, so she will not have time for both and still be able to play softball. It is going to be weird to not have her play because she has played AYSO since she was 5. This will really free up her fall, because soccer will only play in the spring, not both like AYSO. We are going to see if we can't do some sort of fall softball if possible. She also might need time this fall to get used to Junior High. We will see what happens. She has had a great season though, she has scored pretty much every game at least once, and her endurance has gotten stronger as she has needed to play the entire game. This summer she is going to go to Jenison's soccer camp and softball camp. She is also going to catch for Jenison's pitching camp. This will be a great chance to get in some catching and work with the Jenison Varsity coach who caught for the University of Michigan. It's never to early to get noticed!!!
Miss Allison is not nearly as good of a spectator as she was last year. She does not like her stroller at the games and does alot of screeching and fussing, which my parents had the joy of witnessing Monday night. She is happier at home, in her own environment enjoying her yard and swingset. She loves to swing in her swing. She wants to go out whenever she knows someone else is out and heads straight for the swingset whenever she gets free. Notice the big bruise on her forehead. That seems to be her spot this year. She has bumped it twice and it is slowly healing. Good thing she hasn't needed to go to the doctor, they might not let us take her home!
