So Long Old Friend....

Well, after much thought and deliberation, many tears and sad faces, we have said good-bye to a special friend. Last week Lilo found a new temporary home, hopefully to find a new permanent home soon. Over the last few weeks we have noticed that we are so busy and just do not have the time to give to her that she needed. She is a very playful and active dog that loves attention and we just could not give her what she deserved. With Spring arriving we realized the only time we spent with her was bringing her in and out of the house. She spent all of her time alone in the back yard. The girls were very sad and actually had quite a few hard days, more than we thought they would have, but we have been busy so the pain is subsiding. We are hoping she will be adopted by a family that has lots of space, and kids with lots of time to spend with her. We are doing okay, I still find myself looking for her when I get home, or needing to stop myself from reminding the girls to feed and water her. I thought about posting a picture I took of the girls with her the morning she left, but we will wait a little longer for that. I made Sean promise that no matter how much the two younger ones beg for a dog in about five years we will not get another dog. I don't think I can go through this again!
