Some exciting things that happend this past month that I forgot to share...Jessica and her AWANA quiz team took 1st place for the second year in a row at the AWANA regional quiz meet. We thought they might be going in a little over-confident after their success last year, but the morning of the meet the nerves got the best of them and they were quite anxious. They ended up doing awesome... I think they actually did better this year than last year because they knew better what to expect. The meet is divided up into three categories. Jessica scored a perfect 10 out of 10 in the multiple choice, she answered three straight questions in the speed round and "quizzed out". When a kid answers three questions in the speed round they "quiz out" to make it fair for the other competitors. She struggled in the written test part, she came out feeling she hadn't done well at all. She scored a 14 out of 20 on her written test, but her other two teammates scored 17 and 18 so they ended up placing 1st again. She was very excited! We were thrilled too! Katie had fun following her around all morning and cheering on the team. She has decided she wants to try next year. She is not as disciplined as Jessica when it comes to memorizing, but it might be a good challenge opportunity for her next year.
We also had the AWANA Grand Prix this month too. We have been soooo busy and realized the night before the race that we hadn't even started the cars! The girls wanted to race last years cars just so they could be a part of the race. The cars didn't run as fast as last year, but Katie placed 2nd and Jessica placed 3rd in the design category. This qualified them to compete in the regional race last Saturday. We did not have high expectations because the cars weren't running fast. A friend of ours did a little tweeking and Jessica's car actually did quite well in her first few heats. Neither girls placed in speed or design, but they had a blast doing it! Jessica was very excited to see some cabin mates from camp that were there with another church! Katie had a smile on her face the entire time. Next year we will start the cars earlier and hopefully have a better showing!!!

Great Job, Jessica on the Awana quizzing. Gets all her brains from the White side. And she is even a movie star. She looks like she was having the time of her life. How many days til camp, Jess?
